Local Life: School Supply Drive, Back-to-School Party, Pigskin Poets, Ride to End Alzheimer’s

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — On today’s episode of Local Living, the Cayce Police Department hosts its annual school supplies drive.

They are accepting donations for Lexington School District Two students at the police station on Lavern Jumper Road.

You can donate items such as pencils, pens, backpacks, folders and more.

The Sandhills Medical Foundation is hosting a start-of-school party this Saturday.

The event will take place from 9am-12pm at their location on Baldwin Avenue in Lugoff.

Your children must be there to pick up their free school supplies, while supplies last.

You can play games, have your face painted, there is plenty of popcorn and much more.

Don’t miss the 28th annual Pigskin Poets event.

The University of South Carolina football team takes a break from the field and takes the stage along with the Richland Library.

The program emphasizes the importance of summer reading for children of all ages.

It will take place on Friday, July 12 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Drew Wellness Center.

The Alzheimer’s Association of South Carolina is hosting its 16th annual Ride to End Alzheimer’s event this week.

From July 12-14, more than 400 cyclists will ride through the Midlands and the Palmetto State to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Officials say they have raised more than $832,000 of the $1.5 million goal.
