French cathedral tower catches fire – KVNU

LONDON — A fire broke out on Thursday in the spire of a cathedral in Rouen, France, the capital of the Normandy region, local emergency services reported.

The Gothic cathedral has been evacuated and more than 60 firefighters are on site, Normandy police said.

Black smoke and flames were visible in photos taken Thursday afternoon, with the area where the cathedral’s spire appeared to be on fire wrapped in scaffolding.
