According to Homebuyer, “Toledo, Ohio, is an affordable city with something for everyone.” Toledo received an affordability score of 99.82% from Homebuyer, which looked at monthly homeownership costs.

You’re likely to find a large number of homes on the market here – and the average monthly mortgage payment is around $932.

Here’s another city where you can find luxury homes for less in Ohio. Not only is Canton an affordable and busy city, but it also boasts low property taxes. Home Buyer gives Canton an affordability score of 99.25%.

Springfield, Illinois

The capital of Illinois offers a good housing market in a city known for combining the best of small-town living with big-city perks. It received an affordability score of 99.22 from Homebuyer and the average mortgage payment here is about $1,104.

The Motor City is known for its affordable housing. In fact, according to Redfin, Detroit is one of the most affordable cities in the entire Midwest. The average home price here is only about $75,000, so if you look hard, you can definitely score a deal on luxury.
