Bridge replacement on Route 116 in Adams County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that a bridge replacement project will begin on Route 116 in Adams County. Construction will begin June 3 at the bridge, which crosses a tributary of the Willoughby Run near Gettysburg, with erosion and sediment control measures in place. Lane restrictions and flag-controlled traffic are expected during this phase.

The sanitary sewer relocation will begin June 10 and is expected to last two weeks, with similar traffic control measures in place. A detour will begin July 20 along Knoxlyn Ortanna Road, Knoxlyn Road, Route 30 and Baltimore Street.

The project, managed by Lobar Site Development Corporation and valued at $935,279, is targeting completion by August 14, 2024. During the construction period, motorists can access real-time traffic information and updates through the 511PA website and mobile app.
