Texas softball takes on Florida in the Women’s College World Series

Top-seeded Texas opened the Women’s College World Series in impressive fashion on Thursday, defeating Stanford behind the dominant pitching performance of freshman Teagan Kavan. But things are about to get tougher for the Longhorns (53-8), who will meet an SEC powerhouse in No. 4 Florida (52-13) on Saturday at 6 p.m. Both teams are 1-0 in the WCWS double-elimination bracket, and a win would push each team within one game of the final bracket. A loss means a trip to defending champion Oklahoma and a meeting with Alabama on Sunday.
