Kevin Seitter’s 4-hit shutout sends Oregon baseball past UC Santa Barbara in regional final, Ducks advance to Super Regional

Oregon is headed to its second straight Super Regional.

Kevin Seitter struck out seven in a four-hit shutout to lead the Ducks in a 3-0 victory over No. 14 seed UC Santa Barbara in the regional final Sunday night at Cesar Uyesaka Stadium.

Oregon (40-18) advances to the Super Regional round and will play a best-of-three series at No. 3 seed Texas A&M (47-13) next weekend.

Drew Smith hit an RBI single in the first and Mason Neville added a two-out single in the fifth to end the day for Matt Ager (3-4), who allowed two runs on two singles, two walks and a hit batter over 4.2. innings for UCSB (44-14).

Jacob Walsh led off the seventh with a home run, his 18th of the season, to give Seitter a three-run cushion.

Due to the transfer from Quinnipiac, a runner could not reach second base during the first eight innings. Seitter got the first two outs in the ninth, allowing back-to-back singles to drive the tying run, then struck out Jonah Sebring to complete his first full game after 128 pitches.

Oregon will play in its third super regional in program history.
