SAF JaDon Blair OV review #Gamecocks – SportsTalkSC

Yes Don Blair

Highly recruited SAF JaDon Blair (6-4 180) made his official visit to South Carolina this weekend. That was his third official visit after visits in April to Virginia Tech and Louisville. Blair is primarily being recruited to USC by defensive line coach Torian Gray, but head coach Shane Beamer is also heavily involved with the high-profile prospect.

“I had a great visit, man,” Blair said. “It felt like a loving environment and the hospitality was there. The official visit, on June 1, was great. They just made me feel welcome and like they needed me. There was real, genuine love there.”

Part of any official visit for the prospect is to learn more about how he would be used by that program. Blair said the Gamecocks had another way to show him and the other recruits what they had in mind for them.

“They took the players into a room and showed clips of us, and then they showed clips of how it translates to the players already there and what they’re doing, and how they can continue to develop us to make things better. can do what they do and improve our skills even further,” said Blair. “The way they pass me is as a guy who can pass, can run down the alley and has good ball skills. I just have to translate that to the defense.”

Blair said he spent most of his time talking to Gray, who would be his position coach, but before he left he had the all-important exit interview with Beamer.

“The message he sent to me was that he would love to have me there, that I would love to play there,” Blair said. “If I had to choose over all the other schools, he would be ecstatic and as happy as he could be. And just the type of man that I am and how I will grow, he would love me to be there. I absolutely trust Coach Beamer with what he does.”

Blair has four more visits planned for June. He will visit Notre Dame on the 11th, Michigan on the 14th, Florida State on the 18th and Penn State on the 21st. That competition for the Gamecocks is fierce, but Blair said the visit proved they can hold their own.

“It’s pretty tough competition, but they’re setting the bar pretty high,” Blair said. “South Carolina definitely holds a special place for me. I’ve grown to like them more and more since I went there the second time and how Coach Beamer approached me and Coach Gray. From then on it went up.”

Blair has set his commitment date for July 5.
