Obituary of Rochelle Bratton – CO

Rochelle Ann Bratton of Fort Collins, CO passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012. Rochelle was born in Fargo, ND on July 28, 1957. She grew up in Dickinson, ND where she was the oldest of five children.

Rochelle was an honored varsity basketball player during her high school years. She was a graduate of Dickinson State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1979. She taught kindergarten in Dickinson, ND until moving to Colorado. She moved to Fort Collins in 1986 and began teaching in the Thompson School District in Loveland, CO shortly after. Most recently, she taught second grade at Monroe Elementary in Loveland. Rochelle was a beloved teacher in North Dakota and Colorado for over thirty years. She was an avid cyclist, hiker, outdoor adventurer and animal lover. She will always be remembered for her sweet, gentle nature.

She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, friend and neighbor. Survivors include her husband Stephen Bratton (beloved cat Milo), parents Duane and Colleen Hanson of Fort Collins, brothers Douglas Hanson (Donna) of Los Angeles, CA, Kenton Hanson of St. Paul, MN, Mark Hanson (Kendra) of Fort Collins, and sister Laurie Welken (Wayne) of Bloomington, IN, niece Alison Welken, nephews Tyler Welken, Jordan Hanson, Dillon Hanson, Kylan Hanson, Cameron Hanson, Matthew Hanson and Andrew Hanson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, CO on Saturday, March 3 at 11am. Memorial donations may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
