CTDOT is developing bus infrastructure plans for the Windham Regional Transit District

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans for the Windham Regional Transit District to receive, store and charge electric buses as part of Phase 1 of a three-phase buildout.

The project includes the introduction of new electrical and water supplies, charging equipment, fire suppression and necessary HVAC upgrades, as well as the expansion of the existing maintenance building with two additional maintenance rooms.

According to CTDOT, design for the project will be completed in December 2024 and construction is expected to begin in summer 2025, assuming project acceptance, availability of financing and receipt of all required right-of-way and environmental permits. The project will be carried out with 100 percent state funding.
